(I actually thought it was alright, particularly given it was true. I also felt it gave some genuine insight into my character, but you have to listen to your audience and, frankly, it wasn't delivering the goods....)
....so, here's the more traditional approach: fly-tipping a few direct adjectives and a couple of lists.
I'm intelligent and fun, and sometimes even a little bit fun-NY. I'm very energetic - I really love being outdoors, especially in the mountains or by the sea. Trekking, camping and so on in summer; skiing if possible in winter. (Was hoping to visit the slopes in France early in the NY, but that has just gone the same way as Banksy's "Love is in the Bin".) I like swimming too, and cycling and most other active stuff.
I'm good in a crisis (a.k.a. the kayak story), and practical. But I am also a softie, tactile, and quite romantic. I'm suited to relationships that are true partnerships - I don't have a huge need for independence / I like doing things together.
I enjoy art movies and the theatre (although I don't watch a lot of TV) and have done a bit of (very) low-brow Am Dram myself. I like the company of kids of all ages: I find them a lot of fun and interesting to be around. I've got ten godchildren!
I run a small business that invests in tech. start-ups, which I enjoy a lot, but am starting to think about what to do after that. I've travelled quite a lot in Africa (mainly North and East, but also spending some time in Senegal) and would like in the future to get involved in a charitable endeavour somewhere over that way.
