I've read loads of profiles and I feel a bit of a fraud: I am not an Olympic swimmer and I don't spend my holidays whizzing down some black run in Switzerland. I don't have a flash sports car or an even flashier speedboat, so, ladies, if that's what you are after, then sorry!
What I am after is equality. I hope my girl and I can be, first of all, best friends. I will respect her and hope she will respect me. I hope we can learn to trust one another, even though that might be difficult after some of the stories of heartbreak I hear, but it will come eventually and it will be worth waiting for.
I am fairly spontaneous and like to be adventurous as well. I am not quite ready to hang up my conkers and sup the proverbial cocoa in my slippers in front of the DVD. I like to be outside more than in and get out in the countryside whenever possible. I have recently started sketching again as I find it a great way to relax and focus on something totally absorbing. I suppose my favourite hobby since childhood is reading and I always seem to have about half a dozen books on the go; whenever I read a good review (in the Times, of course!) then Amazon takes a bit more of my money! I prefer classical music to pop but I also like rock and jazz but not country - sorry I'm just not in to those thigh slapping yeehaas!

I will add to this in the very near future but all I would like to say now it that I am looking for a normal woman and not wonder-woman. I would like to meet someone who appreciated the quiet along with the hectic.
I would like to understand this idea of instant gratification that people seem to aspire to. I read in so many profiles that the 'Chemistry' has to be right and that people will 'just know' on first meeting that this is or isn't the person for them. I feel we do ourselves a grave injustice in our search for instant happiness. Many of the people I have ended up being really close to have been on first meeting not particularly appealing, but they grow on you and you wake up one day and realise the world would be a duller place without them. But, it takes a little time, which is what we haven't got here. We might get one date if we are lucky but we are not really around someone for enough time for friendship to develop and then hopefully something deeper.
I don't know if this addition has been worth waiting for but I hope we might not be quite so dismissive of those who are not 'instantly' appealing..
I would love to meet someone who thinks they may fit in with me. Someone who is not worried all the time as to what impression she is making and above all, someone who is passionate about something - I don't mind what.
