About him
I lived and worked overseas (in the Far East - Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines) for many years until my return to the UK at which time I moved into management consultancy focusing on organisational development. I still retain many friends of different nationalities in the Far East who I try to visit on an annual basis. With my son now living in Australia I am looking forward to spending some time there during our winter.
I have had a very enjoyable and varied business career: chartered accountancy, general manager of a brewery group, managing director of a ladies lingerie company, management consultancy and some success over 20 years in the property sector.
Over the years I have lived in some major international cities. I appreciate the attractions that a large city can provide: theatre, concerts, sporting events, restaurants etc and I enjoy partaking of these. In addition, as a balance I try to spend as much time as possible in country surroundings, being able to relax and wind down in the company of someone special. With weekend and short breaks having become so popular all this is now so easily achievable. I especially enjoy walking in the Lake District where I used to live and still have a boat and boathouse there on Lake Windermere.
For indoor relaxation, I like listening to most genres of music, am an avid reader of biographies and play an enthusiastic but rather indisciplined game of backgammon. Of course like most men, I am also very partial to an intimate home-cooked dinner for two with suitable wine etc. - more a follower of Delia than Nigella, although Nigella does have her moments!
I like to think that I am considerate, am energetic and tend to pour myself fully into everything I do, both in my personal and business life, and devote much time and effort into making it a success.
