About her
Word fail me here. I have managed to get through eighty-two years without too much trouble. Now widowed, I was very happily married to an intelligent and sensitive man and have two stepchildren and their descendants. I can go to sleep at any time when the background is noisy, e.g. at a brass band concert or in the cinema. Life is so pleasant if shared with a compatible person, when just being together is fun in a quiet sort of way. I have several furnished dolls' houses and enjoy reading, writing, corresponding with friends, and have a home library. I am on no medication and enjoy travelling around by public transport and seeking bargains from charity shops. I dislike cooking and show-offs and find it hard going when a sense of humour is so exaggerated as to be boring, but neither do I want to meet an old-fashioned millionaire, just a dear kindly old man who is quite well-heeled and considerate. That's all!

I have always found that on meeting someone for the first time, I can tell, after ten minutes or so, whether or not we're going to see each other again. I am a Christian and would hope to detect characteristics of gentleness, truthfulness, patience, honesty and kindness; someone with laughing eyes who is quietly enjoying being alive and helping others. What does 'work' mean in this context? Some couples thrive on arguing, dancing, competing, entertaining etc. A relationship works if you are compatible, and this takes time to decide, for compromise has to enter into to it somewhere. I remember being startled as a child, on reading about a brave, handsome knight and a lonely, beautifully pale lady with long flaxen hair waiting and watching from the castle turret as he returned on horseback having been away for a year. And under the picture was written words to the effect that she should be pitied as he'd be fed up with her in six months! If I found after a while that a relationship was not going smoothly on account of lying, infidelity, etc then it would end.
