About him
Ok - it was a Cortina on fire on the hard shoulder of the Hendon Way (and the end of my first car). But on to more relevant things. I was born and lived overseas as a youngster and I've travelled a lot - I still enjoy it when I have the chance. I work as a headhunter in London and I have two small girls who mean the world to me.
I enjoy scuba diving (in warm water), tennis, skiing, cooking and sometimes a round of golf (pretty hopeless, if you're asking). I'm not that keen on swimming - every time I try it I get wet. I love spending time with friends over a few bottles, whether in a good pub or over dinner. Or in a bad pub with no dinner in fact. I have a bit of a risk taking side to me so I've tried parachuting, paragliding, bungee, cage diving etc.
And when the irresistible force of commuters on the Victoria Line is pushing me into the cavernous, unwashed armpit of the orc next to me my mind exits to some of the more rewarding things I've done in life - tickling a moray eel under the chin, flying a loop-the-loop, swimming with a whale shark, cliff jumping into rock pools, seeing the Taj Mahal by the light of a full moon, drinking a cup of warm urine. I don't mean to portray myself as an action hero though, and I can happily follow more sedate pusuits - if I was the guy from the Milk Tray ads I'd probably eat the chocolates at the top and get the bus back down.
I have lots of likes, but here are some dislikes: moustaches (on men or women); ouzo (unless I'm in Greece); grappa (everywhere); people who tuck their shirts into their underpants; the acronym LOL. I could go on.
I used to be able to tell 40 different varieties of potato apart, and at one time I could unicyle. There aren't many people who can claim to do both of those. I've not met anyone who'd want to either.
You're worried about that cup of warm urine aren't you? No need - I was only five years old and I haven't felt the urge to do it since.
About his ideal match
I'd like to meet someone who is relaxed and fun to be with - not someone who is tense and a real bore. Someone who enjoys a few glasses of wine with friends, and also who wants to get out and about, whether that's a long walk, a game of tennis or going to a film. Also preferably someone who doesn't say they 'look as good in Jimmy Choos as a pair of wellies' - you're a human being, I'm going to assume you can look ok in more than one type of footwear. If you've got hooves and find this a problem we are unlikely to get on in any case.
Like me you will probably enjoy entertaining, with dinners often stretching into the small hours when the port is out, voices louder than they strictly need to be and opinions enthusiastic. It would be nice to share holidays with someone who also likes a balance of relaxation with activity. Having a drink, running to the bar, having a drink, running to the bar.
Because I've travelled and lived overseas, someone who is inquisitive, interested and enjoys other cultures would be a good match. Ideally you will be someone who is well read and has opinions. Above all I would love to be with someone who is open, good company and has a sense of humour - but I guess most people would, wouldn't they? In the end it's all about chemistry (just joking - I'd rather fondue my own head and eat it than finish with that sentence).
