About him
A teacher of English, mostly abroad, for almost fifty years, I am now retired and living in Normandy. I am an enthusiastic if rather incompetent gardener (aided by an equally enthusiastic and incompetent Yorkshire Terrier), lack any competence in any form of DIY, and, by and large, a bit of a dreamer.
I have the intentions of writing but am only too well aware that whilst I have made a career out of helping students to discover their abilities , my own attempts at creativity are pretty dire. Nil desperandum.
In appearance, I am OK...just (envy all those perfect bodies you see on websites, but have no delusions that I look anyhting but silly in a thong) and have long ago discovered that a perfect body does not often go with a perfect character.
I enjoy a sense of humour in others and appreciate friends.
Enjoy old films, good if old fashioned novels, theatre that makes its point sharply and wittily; I enjoy light opera and musicals. l care for Shakespeare and hate productions obsessed with their own direction rather than the verse.
