About him
I'm a Yank who lives in Paris, the Cotswolds and Los Angeles. After a childhood wasted in the entertainment business, I quit work, did a DPhil in Shakespeare at Oxford and have been writing impenetrable scholarly books ever since. Part-time, I teach Shakespeare, short story writing and The Holocaust at UCLA. I have three children; a grown daughter in New York, one son in college in Paris and another heading for college in Chicago.
I'm hoping to see Paris with a partner with interests in the arts, cinema, politics, travel, entertaining, and creating a warm and supportive environment. Above all, let her be easy to be with and talk with, and gentle. If she fancied living part of the year in Europe and part in California, that would be a plus. In the spirit of full disclosure, my bad habits include doting on my children, reading/writing too much, sneaking off to the golf club, Foyle's War, Stanley Kramer's movies, chicken piccata, and a tot of Powers Irish with an after-dinner cigar.
