I am lively, fit, thoughtful, pretty easy-going, caring, a compassionate listener - and I make my friends laugh.
I like cooking and gardening and love my home. I also love getting away from it completely: driving, walking, looking at buildings, art, gardens and junk shops. I love music, singing - and quite a lot of 'ask me later' things. I devour a daily broadsheet newspaper (fascinated by politics), rapidly polish off the quick crossword (but am totally foxed by the cryptic one). I mess around with watercolours and have had, since childhood, a real passion for theatre and cinema.
I used to write for a living (books, magazine articles) and am now semi-retired, having finally given up a weekly column in a national newspaper (after 20 years). Originally from Bristol, I spent 25 years in London before moving to East Sussex about 20 years ago.
I am not particularly desperate to become instantly joined at the hip to anyone and positively enjoy time by myself, but I should love to find someone with whom to share some of the many good things life has to offer - as well as more mundane stuff that is just plain boring on one's own. We were not meant to cook for one and eat alone - well, not all the time.
Things that turn me off (better to say now..), bigotry, pomposity, road rage, fibs (about one's age, smoking, baggage the contents of which is still wriggling etc.)

No 'rules' here really. I suppose I am hoping to meet someone who, having read thus far, thinks 'well she sounds a bit different, and she doesn't look bad either', but has the imagination to see beyond the mug shot and the muted formality of a dating profile and then does something about it. The rest is ALL about that tired old cliche 'chemistry' and (realistically, at our age) compromise.
