About him
I'm diversifying: a biological scientist/manager who's taken early retirement from the public sector and is well into exploring too wide a range of interests. I split myself between a rural cottage near Oxford where I get fairly close to nature, and Notting Hill with all the accessible attractions of the big city.
The countryside provides a relaxed meditative environment, although not that quiet with mowers, strimmers, chain saws, lorries, and light aircraft overhead; physical challenges (and occasional injuries) from cottage maintenance, tree felling, hedge-laying, and log sawing; massive quantities of fresh fruit and veg; and not enough time to enjoy it.
In London I am a governor of an NHS trust, help run a small charity, attend a variety of talks at Gresham College and Temenos; I am a member of Humanists, Dignity in Dying, and Population Matters; I dance 5Rhythms once a week, visit the RA, Tate, and private galleries, and listen to traditional jazz at a local pub. I'm intrigued by Jungian psychology.
This keeps me more than occupied but occasionally I do venture further afield to two sons and four grandchildren in Australia, and to ski slopes unfortunately no more than once a year.

Someone with a lively mind who's warm, tactile, active, sociable, non-materialistic, likes both feeling and thinking, and is intrigued by most things. Perhaps a little unconventional, enjoys the indoors and the outdoors, and avoids spectator sport.
And as expecting to come suddenly upon perfect companions seems a trifle ambitious I'd like to make friends and see how we feel. At the moment I have three good friends I’ve met on line over the last few years.
So the main challenge is to make some friends and enjoy each others’ company.
