I work in the City and live on a boat in a lovely rural setting. The Law provides the necessary intellectual stimulus but is less good at feeding the soul! For that I need the art, music, beauty, passion. To see a world in a grain of sand...
When at my best (which is not always) I'm strong, kind, open, honest, generous, thoughtful, romantic. Prone to random acts of kindness, tactile and generous with hugs. I enjoy being alone but relish good company, true friends, stimulating conversation and moments of quiet tenderness. It's all about connection.
Fun and laughter are essential. A clever play on words or a painfully bad pun are equally welcome. I have a wry view of life and see the funny side of most situations. I don't take myself too seriously. Am forgetful of my age; I tend not to allow my life to be constrained by the number of times the Earth happens to have been round the Sun whilst I've been on it.
I have a thirst for knowledge and a sense of wonder. Am dismayed at my own ignorance. Thank goodness for Radio 4 and for Jonathan Miller, Richard Dawkins, Simon Schama, et al. I dislike injustice, cowardice, prejudice, hypocrisy, intellectual dishonesty and wanton stupidity. Not least, my own. Work in progress...
I love the outdoors and nature. Bare feet rather than shoes. BMF, running and yoga keep me fit. I like a challenge, adventure and spontaneity. Why go to Tesco by car when you can go by canoe? Am mystified by people who are able to walk beneath a horse-chestnut tree in autumn without picking up a conker.
