In His Own Words

About him

If all goes to plan, I shall be living in Lincoln from August 17th. There’s a long back-story to my move, but not one I want to blurt out in this potted introduction.
When I quit England in 2018, and emigrated to India, I set myself a huge task to work on a 5-year assignment to double the size of an educational project located (mainly) in the slums around the thriving city of Bangalore. I had already set up a UK-based charity (Escape from Poverty) to raise funding for it; I now wanted to see if we could build something that would double the number of impoverished children that the project reaches.
It wasn’t to be: and when COVID-19 changed the world, I planned to return to Lincoln. It’s almost impossible to negotiate such a relocation simply by Googling. After almost 7 years living in an apartment with 250 years of history in Minster Yard, with a dining table looking out onto the floodlit East front of one of the world’s finest cathedrals, I knew what I did not want, even if I had no idea how I could possibly find accommodation that matched my wish-list.
Moving to an alms-house had never been part of my life-plan, but it was the trustees of a community of 15 terraced cottages, built in 1854, designed by Augustus Pugin, that came to my rescue. The accommodation is bijou but the trustees have offered me 2-years’ residence while I find an apartment that is less bijou (I am 6’ 2” and more Snowman than Beanpole.) If I had been more circumspect over the last 30 years, I would have made better financial provision for this stage of life, but I have no doubt that the coming years will be full of new opportunities and challenges.
Pugin was at the forefront of neo-gothic style, and is probably best known for the Houses of Parliament and the Big Ben clock-tower. I appreciate design, and look forward to living in a new environment and being part of a diverse community . . . and being within walking distance of my beloved cathedral.

About his ideal match

I am not sporty: - no tennis, sailing, horses or golf. I do not spend my time chasing around visiting my grandchildren because I taught them to treasure their independence as much as I treasure mine. I have a good relationship with them, and it is heart-warming when they phone me to ask for professional advice on business issues.
But then there are other things about me which might send some women running for refuge. I am mellowing towards the Left and find some "Conspiracy Theories" entirely convincing. I am qualified as a Reiki practitioner and also intuitive to the point of being psychic (it runs in the family.) I am also a Benedictine oblate (secular associate) of Shantivanam ashram in Tamil Nadu.
Ah, you may be thinking, a frigid recluse. No, far from it! ...and the rest - I ran restaurants for 20 years, and cooking is one of my favourite activities. In my leisure time, I am happiest planning and serving a dinner party for an interesting mix of people; - when the conversation can ramble on way beyond the coffee.
I do the traditional male stuff like reading maps, rewiring electrics, and fixing shelves so that they don't usually fall off the wall. I can resolve basic computer issues and happily spend hours online, writing or researching. Now that I have finally stopped running management training courses, my wings are clipped, but I am always optimistic.
I have 18 grandchildren and step-grandchildren. In 1972 I won second prize and £1,000 in "Cook of the Year," and I was Middlesex Yoyo champion in 1955, at the tender age of eleven - surely my greatest achievement.
I would like to find someone who is still young at heart, adventurous and open-minded. My children are all strong and independent, and those are the characteristics that I value in a woman. I would like an intimate relationship; one which embraces mutual commitment, support and encouragement.
If you see any potential in corresponding, I shall look forward to hearing from you,
