My two kids 24 and 23 still live with me but are no longer in need of my constant attention, except at mealtimes and when they need money, actually they make great dog sitters....
I like to sing in the car to XFM, talk to my dogs, enjoy the banter with my kids but also enjoy an intellectually challenging debate. I like to cook dinner for a bunch of friends then dance drunkenly on the lawn, watch films in front of a roaring fire on a cold winters day, hell I just like watching films.
Things I love - Peonies and old roses, the smell of chamomile and cedar, eating at Livebait, Venice in autumn, Corsica in summer, the desert at Aswan in autumn and Sweden in the winter, dew drenched grass under my bare feet, sun dried bed linen, walking for miles with my dogs, hot buttered toast and Earl Grey tea, old baggy jeans and trainers, dressing for dinner in a fabulous, expensive outfit, deserted beaches, windswept mountains and the crowds at Christmas in the city, brunch in the Northern Quarter, Popcorn, Rocket and goats cheese, champagne.
Music - The Vaccines, Razorlight, Keane, Arcade Fire, Plain White Tee's, Battles to Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, Liszt, Gershwin.
Films by John Sayles, Peter Wier and Scott Hicks, Roman Polanski, books - Goldings 'Darkness Visible', the melancholy of William Wharton, Bill Brysons humour,Sebastian Faulks, Joanne Harris.
Wild places, Kettles Yard, Arts and Crafts furniture, Frank Lloyd Wrights houses, Country gardens, growing stuff and eating it, my very fast car....
