About him
I am a moderately successful business leader who puts a lot into work, although I am currently taking some time off to decide what is next. I am pretty high energy and fit for my age. I cycle at least 100 miles per week (subject to weather), play recreational ice hockey twice a week (not since Covid), am passionate about skiing, enjoy long walks, reading, gardening and generally doing stuff. I don't sit around watching TV or sport. I am passionate about politics and listen to a wide variety of podcastsand I read a lot, 80% non-fiction. I also enjoy plays, musicals, and live music. I go to about 25 concerts a year and enjoy tribute bands. I also have a high quality Hi-Fi and am passionate about music, with a Vinyl collection of some 300 albums (yes - I have a turntable) and an equal number of CDs.
I also love travel with my ideal holiday being either - a rented villa for the week where I relax and get to know a place or driving / training on multi-centre cultural journeys.
I am a saver not a spender, except when it comes to helping the children, in which case I am often accused of being too generous.
I am a very positive person and I get my work buzz from being with and helping people. I was CEO of a company which went from just 4 of us 5 years ago to 175 people now. It was both exciting and equally pretty scary!
I am probably not the easiest person to be with partly because I am so busy, but I do try and always make the time to be enjoy social company and am able to switch off on evenings and weekends, most of the time.
About his ideal match
I am looking for an active partner who does something, anything, to keep fit. She will have a purpose in life - that is gets up every day to do something they love. Probably work on workdays and friends / family / tennis club on weekends. Also someone who is a thinker and enjoys live music / theatre, politics, and discussions and debates. I also like natural and a positive friendly approach to life. Skiing and / or cycling would be big pluses, particularly skiing. I would like to spend an entire winter, sometime in the next 5 years (when I retire) in a ski resort.
A desire to travel is also important. I travel a fair bit but still have a lot of the world to see so someone who feels the same.
I do not want to jump into a committed relationship, but am looking to find a person that wants to evolve into a long term partnership. Someone who is open minded and rational, who enjoys people and is at peace with the world. A prudent approach to money is important, not a scrooge, but someone who knows and recognises value. High maintenance needs (designer flash stuff) would be a worry for me.
I would like a partner who likes to be taken care of and vice versa, that is someone who is selfless and thinks about others.
