About him
Is it ever too late to live life to the full? Of course not! We wouldn't be part of the Encounters community if we thought otherwise. Some facts about me. I'm 67 and retired after a rewarding career as corporate communications director for large, global corporations. One of the great joys of my career was turning left when boarding an aircraft and travelling the world. Since I retired I have enjoyed cruising - a more relaxed way of enjoying what the world at large has to offer. I live in a reasonably modest but comfortable house in Hampshire and I keep a 35 foot sailing boat at my yacht club in Dorset. When time,tide and the weather gods permit I head off to France or the West Country but I am equally happy to sit in some quiet South Coast bay and watch the stars as the boat rocks gently at anchor. History, politics and world affairs all interest me but I'm not obsessed. Last year I had a tilt - unsuccessful as it turned out - at a Parliamentary seat at the General Election. An exciting and exhilarating experience but a box that has now been ticked. I am by no means an anorak. Conversationally I can range far and wide. People would probably say I am moderately extrovert, very sociable with a self-deprecating sense of humour. Laughter always comes easily, I have always been relentlessly optimistic and I love good company, good conversation - especially over good food and fine wine - and spontaneity.

Who might be my perfect lady? She would have style and poise and be similarly disposed. She would also have to be comfortable with the traditional courtesies which a lady should expect. After a pretty full life I find myself, for the first time, without someone to share its pleasures and occasional excitements. I suppose I live a life of comfortable leisure. The pursuit of pleasure is always best if shared - if you would like to join me in the chase then I would love to hear from you.
