About him
I'm funny and intelligent. That is to say, I can be spontaneously witty given sufficient notice, and can answer the odd question on University Challenge - or at least shout out the answer only a moment or two after the contestant does. Those two observations are examples of self-deprecation, not self-aggrandisement - in case it wasn't obvious. Seriously, I like to think I'm good company.
I'm also extremely affectionate and loving. I have been described as "sweet". Suffice to say that if you don't like holding hands in public or having your hair stroked (though perhaps not on the first date) we might not see eye-to-eye.
I enjoy the simple things in life: good food (I'm a pretty good cook) and wine, walking with my dogs in beautiful places, sharing a dinner and movie with someone I care about. Above all I love music - mostly listening but sometimes performing. My tastes range from classical to jazz and 70's rock.
I love laughing, and making others do so - or at least trying. I usually try to see the humorous or subversive side of things; I am well aware that my photos might suggest quite the opposite, but you'll just have to trust me on this one........Still, at least the hair and teeth are original and mine, all mine!

Oh dear. In some ways this is more difficult than writing about oneself. Mustn't just write a shopping-list of qualities! OK, here goes......
Things that are important to me, in no particular order, are:
A sense of humour - especially if it's of the irreverent and absurd kind. Sarcasm isn't a deal-breaker, either!
I hope you will also be affectionate, tender and caring, sensual, tactile, and probably slightly unconventional/individual. It would be nice if you're into gastronomy, but as long as you enjoy food you don't need to be Cordon-Bleu trained, as I'm pretty handy in the kitchen. I really hope you're omnivorous - otherwise I won't be able to prepare any of my favourite meals for you!
I hope your ultimate goal is to find someone with whom to share your life, but realise that these things take time and don't always work out the way you hoped. Above all, an ability to express - and receive - emotion is pretty important.
So much for not wanting to write a shopping list! Bottom line? If you like my photos and at least some of the things I've written take the plunge and get in touch. Despite all this 'immediate chemistry' talk, I'm not sure that the best matches are made on a first date, and these profiles are hardly the most accurate way to present ourselves, are they?
