Friends think I'm slightly unconventional, something of a rebel, humorous, kind and thoughtful. I appear confident but I sometimes need reassurance and support.
I have been guilty of calling a spade a shovel. (You can take the lass out of Yorkshire but you can't take Yorkshire out of the lass!) And, though educated, I'm proud of my working-class roots.
I love the theatre, going to see a film, walking by water, playing tennis, being wined and dined.
Parties are not my thing - but that doesn't mean I'm unsociable. I like situations where I have a role and am generally good at talking to people no matter what their background or interests.
About her ideal match
Someone who's comfortable in his own skin - confident, interested in what's going on in the world politically and culturally, not afraid of a challenge, someone who's warm, funny and can listen as well as (at least try to) articulate his feelings.
Preferably a man who is creative and can understand that I need time to write and do my own thing(s).
Also I need a challenge - someone who knows himself well and can stand up to me. (If I wanted a lap-dog I would go out and buy one!)
Because I'm not particularly materialistic it would be difficult to be with someone who was. That doesn't mean I don't like comfort and nice things - but it does mean that I am content with the simple things in life and am not high maintenance.
Qualities such as honesty, openness, humour and consideration are very important to me.
I do need to laugh more. Can you make me do that?
