About her
I'm a quietly-spoken, laid-back person who tries to stay cheerful in this increasingly confusing world. I'm fairly reserved but enjoy the company of like-minded people, although I much prefer muddy walks to social events, especially when in the company of my rescue dog. I'm addicted to Radio 4 and to getting lost in a book - I get twitchy if I don't have one within reach. I also watch, listen to and read way too much about current affairs, resulting in a total personality change as I shout at the radio and scare the dog.
I'm hugely proud of my two wonderful grown-up daughters, one of whom moved to California to get away from my boasting. I have strong views on certain issues, from the environment and animal welfare to the dropping of litter and the misuse of apostrophes, and I'm a committed Europhile, deeply distressed at the loss of my EU citizenship.
I'd love to find a thoughtful, compassionate, intelligent companion with whom to exchange views, interests and passions, one who doesn't take himself too seriously - I'm prone to that as well so I'd be happy(ish!) to be laughed at while I clamber down from my high horse.....

I'd love to find a companion who is cheerful, quiet, thoughtful and laid-back, rather than extrovert and hyper-active. I like unconventional people who don't value status or possessions and don't care how others see them. An interest in what goes on in the world is important, as is a love of animals, concern for the environment and a great smile (although there's nothing wrong with an occasional bout of Grumpy Old Man-ism). If you know a cure for technophobia that would be a bonus...
I hope you loathe conflict and argument as much as I do unless it involves a demonstration, a placard and concerns something about which you care passionately. Jeans and trainers win hands down over suits and ties. And a sense of the ridiculous, although if you find clowns funny we clearly live on different planets.....
