About him
How would my friends describe my personality? I'm a friendly caring guy with an open mind, an open heart and open arms. Lancastrian portrait painter. I like spontaneity, serendipity and variety being the spice of life means a lot to me. I'm dead easy to get on with and have an insatiable curiosity about the world. I have a few quirks too......actually I'm a very unusual guy with hopefully interesting sides to me that folk don't normally expect. Hopefully we'll never have a dull moment together ......could do with about three lifetimes, but we'll just have to cram in what we can eh?
What are my likes and dislikes? Likes: Airline tickets, spontaneity in life, new experiences - scrapes and japes in far-flung parts of the world. Dislikes: bigotry, arrogance, dishonesty; stick-in-the-muds.
Hobbies or interests? Travel, photography, art - painting, viewing and collecting, hiking and walking in the great outdoors, theatre, film, scuba diving, underwater photography, current affairs, writing.
What do I do for fun or to relax? Socialising with friends - drinks and eating out, reading, gardening, wildlife, hiking, 'shooting the breeze' out in the wilds. And a long-term interest in languages - two were needed for my job, two for interest.
What is my outlook?
This is important - We're here for a good time, not a long time; life isn't a rehearsal, nor is it a 'waiting room'...oh by the way I like funny true-life stories ( both yours and mine). I'm not always what may sound a happy-go-lucky guy and have had my fair share of low points in life (like losing a new partner to terminal illness), but I've learned that life is meant to be savoured and loved, each of us singing our lead-role at full pelt like it's the last hour of our lives!! You NEVER know what's round the corner, so savour life while you can.... And coming into the new way of finding love online, I think the adage is really true:- "only you can make it happen" !

What qualities are you looking for in your ideal match? Attractive, funny - and just downright interesting, plus that elusive glint in your eye!
What would make your relationship work? Joy, warmth, passion, spontaneity, variety, enriching experiences, open-mindedness, intimacy, sensuality, tenderness. Also serendipity is key: finding things out about each other all the time: "the more I know you, the more there is to know".
I'm looking for romance, rather than friendship, but I truly value friendship as the base of every relationship. I'm seeking a deeper relationship with all that that entails. In short, I'm looking for my 'muse' .... I know you're out there somewhere....
What activities would you like to share with your partner? Practically everything I enjoy - but always, always unforced .. simply times where both our 'mojos' are really coming through - where we are "in our element"... An example: a swim together in tropical seas - or a quiet hotel room with dappled light..
Deal breakers? Not many - bigotry, smoking, xenophobia. I'd say overall that I'm a very tolerant, 'live-and-let-live' guy.
