I have a quiet, gentle personality but can equally be the life and soul of the party. I love reading, especially books by American authors and also biographies. I like gardening, these days on a very small scale, although I do have two allotments.
I try to find the positive side in any situation and also tend to look for the good aspects of a person's personality.
For relaxation I like going to the cinema and theatre, I like to meet friends and family for coffee and shopping and also eating out in restaurants. Family is important to me. I enjoy holidays in the UK, particularly in Devon and Pembrokeshire and would love to travel abroad again as I have not been able to do so for some time.
I love a good film, either a drama or comedy. I also find family history fascinating and very absorbing.
I think that one should appreciate the good things that we have in life and which we sometimes take for granted, and not yearn after things that are unattainable.

I am looking for a man who is fun and has a cheeky personality, someone to counterbalance my quiet personality.
I would like someone to share companionship, especially on the long winter evenings, and someone who likes going to the cinema and theatre for concerts and plays. I think I have varied tastes in music e.g. I like folk/rock music and bands of the sixties and also female singers e.g. Elkie Brooks, Barbara Dickson.
A deal-breaker for me would be someone who smokes, and someone who drinks to excess.
