About her
I'm friendly, interested in people, relatively outgoing and, generally, easy to get along with. I will never be accused of being chic, sophisticated or elegant and I do need to lose weight so there's my honesty! I've spent my professional life (as a biologist) up to my knees in rivers, ankle deep in mud, talking to farmers, landowners, engineers and other scientists and enjoyed virtually every minute of it.
I love the countryside, the sea, wildlife, walking my dogs, photography, reading (fact and fiction), British history, family history, archaeology, theatre, cats and my small, chaotic garden. There are, of course, lots of other things I love. I'm undoubtedly a spring/summer person and, during autumn/winter, long for May to arrive. I dislike smoking, tattoos and jazz!
My favourite places in the British Isles are the NW Highlands, SW Ireland, Northumberland and Cornwall, where I lived for five years. North Yorkshire's not too bad either!
My dream holiday would be to Antarctica.
My dream dog is an Irish Wolfhound but I adore my, slightly smaller, two extremely beautiful Cocker Spaniels.
I also have one moggy but will no doubt acquire another one soon, to replace a mad little furry soul who sadly died in June.

My ideal match would have an open mind on most things but also have opinions and be happy to discuss them. He would love walking (not yomping!) in the countryside and by the sea, enjoy visiting gardens, museums and galleries, must love dogs, cats and, hopefully, appreciate the theatre. A sense of humour, caring nature and good manners make the world a much more pleasurable place and cost nothing.
There's no such thing as the ideal man or woman, just, perhaps, and with a bit of luck, a person whose personality and chemistry fit with your own.
I'm just hoping to meet that special man.
