About him
Friends tell me I am loyal, trustworthy, caring and honest - I pick my friends carefully! - I tend to be cheerful generally and don't take things too seriously (except when they are serious!)
Having been retired for twenty years, after doing the same job for 39 , I am now manager - unpaid - of a local grass airfield, which rather intrudes on all my pre-retirement plans. Whoever suggested retired people have all the time in the world? I have also discovered that gardens do not like being taken for granted, so I am trying to get that back in order - I am beginning to understand what the Forth Bridge painters go through.
I don’t have any pets, although I was once adopted by a neighbour’s cat, who after a couple uninvited visits decided to move in. I also used to be regularly looked after by a friend’s dog, when they were away. I don’t kid myself. Most of the attraction lay in the local woods.
I would like to explore a lot more of this country by air and that is something that really is better done with company to share it. I have a great interest in the history of this land and am equaly at home exploring on the ground as well.
When my Son and Daughter-in-Law announced that I was going to be a grandfather, I thought "how nice and about time too", but "how nice" just does not describe the impact this little chap has had on me. Having got a bit bored by all my friends going on ad nauseam about their grandchildren, I now find it so easy to to join the club - but I do try not be boring about it.
I have a small cottage in a small community on the edge of common woodland, so my ideal day out would be somewhere new and with the right person, followed by dinner at home, (no objection to a bit of help in the kitchen) with a glass of wine in front of my own log fire.
My solitary photo was taken a while ago and although I am told I haven't changed beyond recognition, I will try to update it and add one or two more, but unfortunately, I usually seem to be on the wrong side of the camera.

My ideal match would be cheerful, bright and inteligent, with a quick and active mind. She should be honest, caring, comfortable in the country and hopefuly not afraid of flying.
It would be a bonus if she can cook better than I do, can advise (not insruct!) me on what plants look best in my garden and better still if she is attractive.
I seem to share my home with a succesion of other people's animals who come to visit (with or without their owner's consent), so a fur allergy would not be helpful.
