[I had taken a break from here since last summer to try to preserve some sanity - I wonder did it work???]
Not the 'Alpha-male' stereotype - I am my own type! Possessing a strong core of values, there is at heart a gentle soul, considerate of others and deeply caring, who values close relationships. I won't be trying to 'sweep-you-off-your-feet' but will be seeking to form a deep, intimate connection - that 'friends-and-lovers' thing. Though short-term may be fine, I am ultimately looking for a life-partner if possible, but that has to be one day at a time.
Plenty of practical skills, fixing most things and small-scale building construction (with a workshop full of tools). My professional work is mainly in engineering design/software. Good at the deep analysis of complex systems, original thinking & creativity, and operating with high levels of passion; the rest is more of a mixed bag! Both tactile and sensual, I can give a lot of support but don't intend to become another person's punch-bag!
A hobby musician who can play 'to a certain-standard', on guitar, piano, bass, drums & vocals. Enjoy jamming or the occasional 'open-mic' event and at home, at times to touch a world beyond. I appreciate a wide variety of music from all era's.
Regularly walk in the countryside - seeing the natural world; also quite happy gardening or cooking. I try to keep healthy and have an interest in spirituality and our place in the world. Family is important to me and I have been fortunate to nurture 3 children into wonderful adults. Prefer dogs to cats but have neither.

Probably not 'just-the-same-as-me' (I've got plenty of that in my life) but definitely kind and capable perhaps with a touch of remarkable? Ideally to be sociable and adaptable - I think forming a successful 'later-life' relationship requires a lot of give-and-take, beyond that all-important 'chemistry' and attraction. Probably I most value qualities that complement mine so together we are more than the 2 apart. But I know as well there has to be plenty of shared interests as it is very important to be able to do things together.
Though I am not particularly materialistic, I imagine you would be financially stable & likely a home owner (as I am) for best in the long-term, but other situations aren't ruled out. Chatting online is a good starting point, but for me there is no substitute for face-to-face meeting - perhaps initially treated quite low-key with no-pressure.
