About him
I’m now fully retired but my working life was quite varied. I’m a graduate physicist by education, a systems engineer by profession and in parallel, owned several pubs and served for 20 years as a Naval Officer in HM Reserve forces as well. I think that clearly says that I like being busy and meeting people 😊. This hasn’t changed at all in retirement. I own my own place in the Cotswolds and like growing, in a non-fanatical way, my own fruit and vegetables. I love to cook and can improvise or follow a recipe without getting stressed out. I sing and indeed solo in two choirs and thoroughly enjoy singing. I play walking rugby regularly and, when the need arises, take myself to the gym/swimming pool to maintain some physical life balance. My musical loves are wide and deep, but I’m not a fan of Rap!
I’ve a kind, considerate and generous disposition; one of the men that opens doors and offers their seats to those less able on trains and buses. My sense of humour is best described as cheeky! As much as I like the coastline, the beach and the sea, I’m certainly no beach bum, preferring to investigate, sample and appreciate any country or area that I’m visiting.
It would be very convenient if we lived close together but I'm willing to travel, sleep on the floor, in an adjacent field (have tent, will travel) or even book a Premier Inn (God help me!). Life's far too short to restrict meeting my perfect partner just because we started off living some distance apart. As for moving, I’m flexible but you really should see where I live; it's adorable.
After recently selling my boat, largely because of knock-ons from BREXIT, I’m looking for adventures anew. It could be on land or water; maybe even a lifetime subscription to some holiday home................ or perhaps just a new garden lounger for you and I to enjoy the wonderful views across the valley here in the Cotswolds. Can you help me decide?

It's probably YOU! Medium height and build, smart appearance, physically and mentally active, an adventurer by nature. In short, I’m looking for a friend, fellow traveller and possibly lover/long-term life partner.
It's quite important to me if you like the outdoors, walking and/or sailing but there are no showstoppers although I'd admit that warm sun and sea, adjacent to sun kissed beaches or wooded glens and hills, makes my heart zing especially if good ale, wine, sundowner G&Ts and good food is involved. An appreciation of music is a must, listening, playing or singing, all of which can be fun together.
However, I’m not looking for a frocked version of myself and I'm not into one night stands. I’m looking for a bubbly, spontaneous, honest, fun-loving, hand-holding, tactile, young at heart, active lady; the zanier your personality, the better.
As you are on a dating site, I will assume that you have a fair degree of availability and a willingness to meet and greet. I prefer to meet as early as possible as life's too short to pontificate. Nothing is worse than swopping never ending messages to find out that there is no chemistry when we finally meet. However, experience on here has taught me not to travel large distances for coffee and cake based just on a dating site photograph. So any reluctance to have a quick video chat will send all the wrong messages to me. I can assure you that the video-cam does me no favours either but it allows body language as well as the spoken word to be appreciated.
So, if you are bold and have a purposeful "seek and ye shall find" attitude, then we'll get on just fine. The world is our oyster.
