About her
I'm a one-man woman looking for a partner to make the centre of my world. I'm a warm, feminine, well grounded girl who prefers to see the positive side to life. I'm unselfish, very loving and fun!.....My loyalty is hard earned but fierce once in hand.
I have been widowed for some years now and although content with living independently, surrounded by friends and family, I really miss the benefits of being part of a supportive couple. I also have two happy and independent well balanced kids, a son and a daughter in their thirties who I am close to. They both live and work away from home.
I am told that I have a youthful and positive outlook on life and would hope to find a match in that respect on this site. I am fortunate to be fit, take no meds and have no health issues, so enjoy life and live each day to the full. I hike, cycle, swim, travel and keep fit as part of a group at the Gym. I also volunteer for the National Trust and sing in a Choir. I have a passion for travel and spent a decade living and working in Europe as part of my early career teaching R.A.F. Primary School age children.
Random favourites of mine include...Radio 4 (and a variety of BBC Sounds podcasts), Concerts, Festival, Classical or Contemporary, Long Walks, Cooking, Gardening, Art Galleries, Nature, Good food and wine, in or out, ( I have the requisite wood burner!) I also enjoy experiencing new things as well as the usual; holidays at home and abroad but independent rather than package.
I am not materialistic but do strive for quality in all aspects of life.
Following the loss of my husband and upon retiring I biked and trekked in Thailand as part of a three month sort of Personal Odyssey. This also took me through Asia and Australasia, but ultimately it is not necessarily where you are but who you are with that counts....

I am hoping to meet someone here who wants to look to developing a committed relationship. I believe that every relationship is a journey and therefore to be developed and nurtured over time.
I would like to think that my partner would be warm, gentle and kind. I'm looking for someone with depth who is loving and genuine with a wicked sense of humour. You don't need to have washed down the Lepers of the Limpopo (but I will be impressed if you have!)
I think it is important to have an upbeat attitude to life, one that seeks to find a positive approach to all that it has thrown at it. I firmly believe that two can face the world better together and walk shoulder to shoulder. I have a set of basic values, honesty, fidelity and respect. Old fashioned but true. I would expect my partner to share these too.
In an ideal world my perfect man would actually have time for a partner, be calm yet assertive, have an enquiring mind, care about his work/ hobby, may well be interested in sport ( I will lovingly grin and bear it!) may exercise on occasion ( for fitness not muscle enlargement!) convincingly pretend to love my cooking ( I would love you even more...) buy flowers on occasion ( just because he can) is not overtly romantic ( thinks he's doing well if he dims the light!) has excellent social skills ( dutifully follows all the social protocols but may be quite a rebel underneath) has strong family values; loves and protects me ( not sure from what though!) loves animals and nature.
He in turn likes me to hold him when asleep, cuddle up to him on the settee when watching tv, hug him when he's least expecting it. Someone who is at ease with themselves and takes a pride in their appearance and is as proud to be with me as I would to be with them.
He is my best friend and more importantly loves me unconditionally despite my foibles!
