About him
I'm a retired secondary school physics and chemistry teacher living in Cumbria.
I have no children or other ties.
I love the outdoors, particularly walking and scrambling in the Lake District, Scotland, Snowdonia....
I'm in the process of climbing all the 2000 foot mountains in the UK - a big job !
I visit Scotland several times a year; I particularly love the north west highlands.
I'm a fairly keen photographer, mainly of mountains and landscapes. I also go kayaking occasionally.
And I have a casual interest in bird watching and in the natural world generally.
In summer I enjoy backpacking in the Alps or Pyrenees, wild camping high in the mountains most of the time.
When not outdoors I enjoy reading and wine making. I don't watch much TV. I mostly listen to Radio 4 and Radio 2.
In winter I like to go on package holidays somewhere warm, but only to destinations with interesting things to see or do. But I don't like strong sun and I can't just lie on a beach for long periods of time.
I've visited many countries in Europe, but I'd love to do more travelling to long-haul destinations, much better with a partner.
About his ideal match
I'm hoping to meet a like-minded minded woman to join me on some of my adventures. You could just be an activity partner, but hopefully you would become my best friend and lover. I miss the physical closeness and intimacy of being in a relationship.
I'm a tactile person and I would like to find someone who's equally comfortable to show affection and love. The snuggling up together at night should also be fun.
I like to do some things spontaneously so ideally you would be retired or work part-time or work flexibly or be able to have a reasonable amount of time off. And I would prefer to date someone who lives reasonably close, although for the right person this might not be an issue.
Sorry, but I am not a big fan of dogs.
I am attracted to women who are confident and are emotionally and intellectually intelligent. Having compatible personalities and sharing some common interests is more important to me than age, looks or appearance. But you should be physically fit and comfortable in the outdoors, whilst probably having your own interests as well.
You don't necessarily have to enjoy scrambling or big mountains, as I am happy to do more demanding trips by myself. But you should at least be comfortable walking on easier terrain.
