About her
I love to look after people & let them know what they mean to me. This extends to the cat who came to stay & gave birth!
As literature is my life, I read (Dickens is a favourite) & enjoy theatre, music concerts & galleries - all the usual flannel!
Cooking is fun, but after my late husband entered full-time nursing care (widowed 2 years ) meals for 1 aren't fun.
He suffered the cruellest form of dementia: Lewy Body Disease.
I now volunteer my experience to advocate for people faced with crippling care fees. Under the NHS, free Continuing Health Care (CHC) is available to patients with complex needs.
Many have this legal right, yet families are rarely told of it.
I sing & play guitar (& uke) & one day hope to master my beautiful 1935 piano. Last Spring, I passed the audition for my local Choral Society. Aside from classical, I have wide musical tastes including folk, Buddy Holly & Eddie Cochran.
Laughter truly is the best medicine & I’m very capable of laughing at myself (frequently). I adore vintage comedy, and Will Hay, Laurel & Hardy, George Formby & Norman Wisdom are my heroes.
I enjoy crime dramas & my favourite is that 'howdunnit': Columbo. Sewing is fun but only to fix & alter things. Face-masks are the only acceptable things I’ve ever made!
The people I admire respect others & are never afraid to call out bad behaviour. Any injustice is despicable, most especially racism, fascism & anti-semitism. I am easy-going, yet believe that politeness & consideration for others is extremely important.
Politically, I lean to the left and mourn Brexit.
As for my looks, the (unfiltered) photographs were taken between June & September.
To quote my adorable Irish father (RIP) "Mary, you're an attractive enough girl, but you're no bloody oil painting!" Words to live & laugh by!
Walking long distances is a bother since shattering a femur in 2011. Slow now, but I remain positive. Dancing's out, but I can swim like a mermaid & am fine on horseback or pillion!

I seek humour, affection, strength, curiosity, kindness, loyalty & devotion, a pretty tall order! Divorced or widowed, it must have been tough; you've exited a painful situation & in the second instance, death decided.
We'd work well if you were confident with power tools - but I’m pretty good with a chainsaw, have a full set of drain rods & am not afraid to use them! However, you really don’t need to be Action Man!
I love films of the 1930's & am particularly fond of film noir, adore actors from the golden age such as Bogie, Cagney, Edward G Robinson & Jimmy Stewart. Hopefully you’d share my rather ‘out-of-time’ tastes. Music from that golden era is also a love of mine, especially Al Bowlly - but The Ink Spots deserve special mention.
It goes without saying that you'll love music too. If you played an instrument that would be great - but not compulsory!
Honesty & good communication is all, but I have had some negative experiences on this site, so if you messaged me 24/7 & tracked my every waking moment it would not go down well. Equally, don't say you'll call & then 'ghost' me, for cowards aren't my scene & I'll never chase one!
Without wishing to be rude, good oral hygiene really matters to me. Even at choir, I have an uncanny knack of being seated near someone with halitosis! But hopefully you'd keep yourself in reasonable physical shape - & know how to dress for specific occasions without missing a beat.
Ultimately, if our relationship grew, intimacy would have its place, but we all need solitude.
Apologies to all those honest, normal gentlemen out there, no furtive flirts, no short arms & long pockets,no ‘vintage’ photos, no Walter Mitty types, gas-lighters, grifters or pompous prigs need apply!
If you’re ill and I love you – then I'll stand by you - but otherwise my nursing days are behind me and I'd like to live again.

Mary is a shy lady she is an extremely caring person and wears her heart on her sleeve, she has always been a true and faithful friend throughout the 50 years I have known her.She has a great sense of humour and is good company.
