About him
I initially came into this blind, looking only for a new life-long partner. But it would also be great to meet someone who is on my wavelength for dining out, theatre trips, day trips out, and perhaps even holidays - I love to travel, but it doesn't appeal in the same way when you're solo.
I consider myself sociable, accepting, and caring, with a generally positive but practical outlook. I try to take each day as it comes and make the most of it, even if that means being positively quiet and still.
I do not play sport, but to do enjoy walking and cycling, although the walking has gone slightly downhill, if you'll pardon the pun, since I lost my dogs (which I do not intend to replace as I am enjoying the freedom). I also enjoy entertaining (hosting dinner parties & BBQs, not clowning!), being with friends, travelling and days out, music (very eclectic - classical, jazz, rock, blues), having cut flowers in the house (especially if they're from the garden), and being able to help others. And most important of all - just having some fun!
My interests include gardening, photography, woodturning (which I sell, and which is the reason for my username!), and cooking. The last is possibly because I also enjoy eating, especially with a glass or two of good wine! I consider that I eat healthily, but that doesn't mean low-fats or low-carbs. It simply means wholesome and well balanced. I have recently taken up singing (I don't sing well, but it's fun, so community chorus rather than serious choir). I'm also tempted to take up watercolours again, but we'll see...
I am a very practical person when it comes to home maintenance, and prefer to repair rather than replace.
Looking outwards, I am an active member of my church. I also help with a local weekly lunch club for the 'oldies' - I'm not there myself yet, in mind or body! I'm also around for those that need to chat things through, or a shoulder to lean on.

If you are to be the special partner in my life, you must be a Christian and a non-smoker. Faith is central to my life - it dictates who I am, how I behave or react, and how I relate to others - and any future soulmate will also need to have a faith so that we can mutually support each other on our Christian journeys. I am open about my faith, but don't flaunt it - I'm not a Bible-Basher! Any partner would need to be similarly open, so if you're an 'ask me later', we won't match.
