About him
I've travelled around quite a bit including living and working in the UK, US and Palestine. Some of my time has been in the teaching of Literature at university and college level and I have also spent many years working in management development in all sorts of organisations. I find it very important to work hard to understand how the world looks from the other person's perspective while at the same time remaining focussed on one's own goals including the values that underpin these. And so some of my key words would be such as listening, empathy, dialogue, enquiring, challenging. I really enjoy spending time with people who choose to do things in the same way and move forward in the pursuit of some aim, especially when this includes achieving something worthwhile for others.
I enjoy reading, watching films and plays and discussing with others, perhaps over a coffee or meal or out for a walk. I am very much attracted to humour, especially when this is outrageous, and sometimes wonder whether this is a plus or a minus! However nothing ventured, nothing gained. I used to be a bit wary of dogs but became a canine fanatic when my daughter acquired a spaniel some time ago!.
Much more to say as for all of us but that's what meeting and talking are for!

There's a saying that opposites attract but also some research that says rapport between people also depends on them possessing similar or complementary qualities. I tend to favour the second view and so my 'ideal' would probably include her being able to work with what I have put down above about myself ( I didn't say also agree with!) I do hope that she will have strong sentiments about things that are important to her and stand up to others whose views are disappointing to her, We all have our vulnerable areas and I hope that in time we will be happy to share our particular areas. Good insight into others and situations very attractive to me.
I do have difficulty when anyone is indifferent or does not care about obvious injustice or suffering, although do recognise that what this means often needs some exploration.
She may like dogs (as I do) but cats or some other non-human entity are just as acceptable.
Sense of humour essential.
