About her
I am very active, practical, a good organiser and someone who listens and cares. Friends describe me as good company, caring and coping with anything thrown at me. I like to think I don't act my age - at least that is what my niece tells me. My career was spent on the management side of an engineering design consultancy.
I love being outdoors, especially around water though definitely not in it, be it at home or abroad, and enjoying nature and wildlife. InIand waterways have always held a particular attraction for me. I also like to walk though rather shorter distances now than when I was younger!
I'm a passionate gardener - I especially have a love of the wonders of growing from seed. Good food and good wine (I love cooking!) are amongst a number of other interests. I’m a member of a number of national and local organisations covering my many interests. I also do some local volunteering.
I like to travel to new places around the world, mainly by sea, but definitely not in a monstrous white cruise ship but favour a small expedition style ship where the natural world and history are the focus. Upcoming ones are to see the solar eclipse in Greenland, and later on the Falklands and Chile. I do also love the UK and Europe - favourite places like the Lake District and Devon, France and the Italian Lakes, but having been widowed for some years I miss having the right partner to share and really enjoy all these experiences. The same goes for all the usuals like theatre, ballet, concerts etc.

I like closeness, good communication, honesty (so your age needs to be as on your birth certificate!) and above all a sense of humour, however irreverent. Your values will be important to me. I am looking for someone who is kind, confident, listens, laughs, smiles, someone who I can trust.
My ideal match would also be fit and healthy (as far as any of us can know this), like walking and being around water, and hopefully be looking to share times away visiting interesting places in the UK or further afield, be it for just a few days or longer and sometimes on a whim. I miss meaningful chats, hugs, laughs and cooking for that someone special, but I also value my independence and respect others’ interests and lives.
