About him
I think my friends would describe me as easy-going, independent, loyal and probably a little too honest for my own good. I enjoy good conversation, plenty of laughter and people who are comfortable being themselves. I’m not interested in games or pretending to be something I’m not.
I live in the countryside and love being outdoors, especially walking my two huskies and escaping to the beaches and wild scenery of Donegal. Music has become a big part of my life too. I play guitar, write songs and poetry, and I'm discovering that you're never too old to become completely absorbed in learning something new.
I enjoy eating out, a good pub, weekends away and quiet evenings at home just as much as going somewhere new. I'm equally happy in walking boots or getting dressed up for a nice evening out.
I value kindness, honesty, affection and a sense of humour. Arrogance, unnecessary drama and dishonesty aren't really for me.
My outlook on life is fairly simple: life is too short to spend it waiting for the perfect moment. There are still places I want to see, things I want to learn and plenty of reasons to laugh. It would simply be nicer to share some of them with the right person.
About his ideal match
I'm looking for someone warm, honest and affectionate, with a good sense of humour and a life of her own. Someone who enjoys conversation, can laugh at herself as well as me, and believes that at this stage of life we should be able to be ourselves rather than trying to impress each other.
For me, a good relationship is built on trust, friendship, attraction and actually enjoying spending time together. I don't think two people need to share every interest or live in each other's pockets, but they should genuinely look forward to seeing one another.
I'd love to share walks, weekends away, meals out, evenings in, spontaneous trips and perhaps discover a few new places together. I'm happiest around the coast and countryside, so someone who enjoys getting outdoors would certainly be a bonus.
As for deal breakers, dishonesty is probably the biggest one. I'm not looking for perfection, and I'm certainly not offering it. Just someone genuine, emotionally available and actually interested in building something meaningful if the chemistry is there.
Ultimately, I'm looking for a partner, a best friend and someone I still want to reach for when we're both old and grey.
