Pretty much normal, but I can't do platitude nor make out I am fluffy just to suit! I could weave stories about log fires and walks on the beach but doesn't that make me the same as everyone else? Feisty. Independent. Eloquent. Determined. Funny.
I hate instant coffee. I love Africa. I won't eat pickled herrings. I like the sea (but get seasick!). I love rugby & cricket. My musical taste is varied. Spontaneity and surprise: tick. I seek comfortable companionship with occasional prickle. Will you be interested in my day, in me and in all that is important to me?
Retired, with time to do other things. Pre-retirement I was busy and smart. Now I am busy and grubby. My children are grown, married and pay tax. They remain extremely important to me.
I love to cook, but don't bother for myself alone. I have green fingers and have an allotment. Jenny Joseph's poem has found its way to my shed.
I keep fit. Marathon days long over. Daily dog walk and gym. I sing to myself when happy.
Learned to cope with basic maintenance stuff - made some kitchen cupboards, learned about soft close hinges.....but car engines beyond me. I panic mildly when the utilities malfunction in the house.
Wildlife champion - never happier than when bumble bees nest in the eaves. I foster hedgehogs from the local hog hospital for release. What a wonderful world!

I am looking for a companion. Someone who values intelligent and strong company, someone who loves conversation.
It would be great if you have a love of life and new experience. You should like light and space and the outdoors. It would be fab if you have a wide circle of welcoming friends and a warm family. Can you be both silly and serious. You should be spontaneous and able to start and hold conversation. You should love to tell of your day and hear of mine too - and delight in it. While we may not agree with each other there should be respect and unconditional support.
We all have baggage (we wouldn't be here otherwise), but please can it be talked about and respected. You may have a bucket list of "things to do" and be delighted to share in planning them. Please be able to absorb my need to be alone sometimes.
A current or previous successful career, interest in being and keeping fit and able to absorb my irritation when the silly household things go wrong.
The rest will just happen. I can't prescribe the man, I can't define the limits, I am open to ideas. But I can't cope with dishonesty nor deception. Chemistry is unpredictable (and even though the scientist in me says that chemistry at basic level does follow rules, it is in experimenting that the great breakthroughs have happened). A great big smile, an open mind and a warm heart - we're half way there!
