Good friends say I'm kind, loyal, honest, stylish, optimistic and prepared to have a go at most things.
I have lots of interests/ curiosity about : life, art, foreign cultures, people, science, religion. I no longer expect to find all the answers - just help with a few ! I increasingly feel a need to let go professionally and just enjoy life. Earlier in my career, I worked overseas for several years in the USA, the Caribbean and the Maldives. More recently, I have holidayed in: Europe, the USA, Peru, Africa, Australia/NZ, Tibet, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, SE Asia and the UAE. So, to me, travel has become an optional extra, i.e. only fun in the company of a like-minded woman.
I recently developed some medical worries but feel healthy (touch wood!). An outdoors man (really just country walks and into town these days), and no team sports since college. I used to like DIY; when I first retired, I designed and helped build an extension of what had been my mother's house. Trying my hand at watercolours, cooking, writing, and some volunteering work. Glued to TV only for the Rugby World Cup/Six Nations. At other times, I mostly watch Documentaries, some Serials, and good Movies - especially foreign ones to keep up my languages. Often go to the Playhouse and am a Friend of the Arts Centre. On most Saturdays, I meet up for breakfast with 4 friends to spend an hour or so discussing national and local politics, music, coming local charity productions and recent TV shows.

I find the tick-box structure of this site too elaborate - it's "chemistry" that matters to me. I'm looking for a local friend who relishes life and is a joy to be with.
