About him
Warm, intelligent, funny, apparently handsome, much travelled who has returned to Devon after fascinating times abroad with NGOs, the international Red Cross and UN.
I returned to England after a few years running humanitarian operations with the international Red Cross and the United Nations mostly in war zones (Afghanistan, Pakistan, former Yugoslavia, former Soviet Union, Iraq...). The experience of working with the most vulnerable was very challenging and rewarding.
I then returned to England and carried out various consultancies on humanitarian programmes. These were on behalf of donors, the UN etc, and involved visits to numerous disaster areas in the world. Also, on the board of a couple of relevant charities.
My main work now is linked to the international Red Cross in Geneva.
I have a beautiful old house on Dartmoor (sometimes it has driven me mad doing it up!), and have a small boat, on Cornwall's most beautiful estuary.
I was privately uneducated and then went to university (LSE), but am still learning. I am warm, aesthetic, and humorous (people do laugh). I love art, architecture, literature, history, travel, antiques and classic cars, and am also interested in international politics and philosophy. My cooking is a bit of a problem, and needs improving. I burnt sausages in the Aga once. No one knew what they were; someone suggested they could only be identified by their dental history.
What am I like? No pot, not bald (full head of hair/ grey since 26), and quite tall and slim. A youthful appearance if I am not self-deluding. Some say I look distinguished (most useful if you don't know what to say). I am told attractive, with a nice voice too (hope they are right).
