In Her Own Words

About her

Currently organising a seminar for choir members. We have two local experts who will enlighten us on the late oratorios of Edward Elgar, and there will be some singing for us, to illustrate their talks.

have a few wonderful friends, lovely family and lots of acquaintances, but I would like to find a man to spend time with and maybe settle down with. I like entertaining and talking politics, music, farming, birdwatching.

My skills and interests include music and running my own small company, working as an occupational therapist. I am semi-retired, having a growing problem with osteoarthritis in a hip - one has been done already. Fortunately however it doesn't prevent me from watching waders on the nearby creeks, a life-long interest.

I love cooking and eating; I get an organic veg box from a Cornish farm and the current challenge is inventing new ways of eating carrot.

My favourite radio programmes are Breakfast on Radio 3 with Petroc Trelawny, the Archers, Clue, Just a Minute; I listen to Radio 4 Extra a lot.

I am reading the works of the much neglected Mrs Oliphant since hearing one novel serialised on Radio 4. Her dry humour is absorbing, much like Austen. I have read the Telegraph daily for several years after giving up on the Independent and refusing to support the repulsive Murdoch. I now read the Telegraph on line - it keeps up with the news so a bit compulsive.

I enjoy lively discussions on nearly any subject, specially politics. I'm a paid up LibDem, but not sure why sometimes. Specially now.

I can dress smartly when required, but spend most of the time in jeans and shirt/jumper. I look younger than my years, and enjoy gardening - growing vegetables and keeping a few free-range chickens (now a fond memory) are favourite activities. I usually attend the cathedral on a Sunday morning and sing in its voluntary choir.

I really look forward to travelling in good company, to France more than anywhere. I spent an interesting week in lovely Ljubljana last October.

About her ideal match

I'm looking for someone amusing and entertaining to come with me bird watching on Carnon Creek or the Exe or Tavy.... Nothing more serious than a small pair of binoculars and a brisk walk, which could become relaxed and romantic with the right person. You will be serious about life and death though, and those things that keep us awake in the small hours.

You will enjoy food, and hopefully will be interested in cooking as well as eating. Ideally, music and travel will be high on your list of favourite activities.

Family in general and grandchildren in particular would be an important part of your life - even if they are someone else's. You won't be very fond of the TV, but you might be a listener to Radios 4, 4+ & 3. An Archers fan would be a wonderful bonus. It will help if you could enjoy going out too: films, restaurants and classical concerts, and maybe listening to cathedral choirs. Outdoors you would like messing about in boats with binoculars - I haven't seen a gannet dive for some time - and looking for spring flowers and nesting waders on the moors and puffins and guillemots on the cliffs.
