In His Own Words

About him

I would like to think that I am a reasonably good-looking (not George Clooney I'm afraid but not George Formby either), friendly, personable person who, like lots of other people, finds it difficult to put myself into boxes. I have a wide variety of interests and live a full and varied life and am well-travelled, having lived abroad for a number of years.
Favourites things: countryside, film, restaurants, cycling, wilderness, female vocalists, steak, travel, Venice, champagne, reading, cricket, dogs, Wagner ... I could go on but hope this eclectic mix gives a bit of an idea.
Life is just missing that special someone to share all its terrific, affirmative moments with. The pursuit of happiness is important to me, although not solely in a hedonistic way. I feel equally at home in the country, tramping across the fells with a couple of dogs or cycling all over Yorkshire and beyond, or in town: restaurants, theatre and especially film are great loves of mine. I feel I have a lot to share and a lot to offer a potential partner, and would hope that someone would introduce new experiences and worlds to me. I work hard at my job as a teacher (which I find very fulfilling) and the consequent holidays give me lots of time to travel and see even more of the world - there are still lots of places out there and experiences to have. They'd be much better shared, I feel. I hope that it's not too late for me to start a family, or be a part of one: I do feel I have a lot to offer.....

About his ideal match

I don't feel that I particularly fit easily into a box so would expect a potential partner to do so - certainly I'm not "looking for a made to measure romance in an off the rack world". I don't have a particular idea of an ideal match - an intelligent, slim,outdoor-loving, kind, gentle person with an interest in life, art, literature, films and family life. Someone who likes things similar to me but also has their own passions and interests, which we might share. Someone nuanced, passionate, open-minded; too much to be looking for? Someone who'd feel equally at home walking in the country, exploring Rome, going to the movies or just cuddled up watching TV. It's the chemistry that that counts, something that not even the Guardian website can translate through the web.
