I like to think that I am fun to be with - I think my friends would say that I have a keen sense of humour, and that I am witty, fun, easy-going and intelligent. I am extremely gregarious and like to be with people. I'd much rather spend time doing things with other people than doing things on my own - whether it be sailing (or messing about in boats generally) or walking or riding bikes and visiting the pub, travelling, visiting galleries, going to concerts or the theatre...
Both my husband and father were of a military persuasion so have been lucky enough to travel the world and have lived in many foreign climes - life has been full and varied. It seems rather empty now although I see quite a lot of my children and grandchildren although they all have long flown the nest. I really enjoyed bringing them up but now I feel the need to branch out on my own - I can't just crash into their lives now that I am on my own. They all have their own lives to lead and are all busily hoeing their own rows successfully whilst busily presenting me with grandchildren now and then, which is great but not the be all and end all.
I am very keen on music from rock to classical, love cooking, eating, fine wines, travelling, reading, current affairs, history, theatre, Radio 4 and Classic FM and life in general. I am kind, caring, generous, tactile, loving and inquisitive and would just love to meet a similarly minded person with whom to share things - whether it be exciting adventures or just trying to keep up with the garden. I feel l still have so much to give and anyway being on one's own seems such a waste and rather brings to mind the Peggy Lee song 'Is that all there is?'! I suppose I'm just looking for a loving, easy-going chap ... "Is there anybody out there...?"

I would like to meet someone who is kind, caring, loving, tactile, outgoing, amusing, fun to be with, intellectually challenging, witty and interested in the world about us. Someone who is keen to remain young, if only at heart, and with a good sense of humour. Someone who likes the outdoor life, sunny holidays, museums, art galleries, music and life! Keen to travel, seek new horizons, try new things. I would also like to meet someone who is truthful about himself and what life has thrown at him.
It would be just great to meet someone who shares some of my interests - but could also introduce me to those that I have missed out on. I miss the close companionship that being in a loving and caring relationship brings. Time spent on one's own seems such a waste if there is someone out there who is doing the same then it would be good to hear from them.
