OK, here goes. I am an active person who enjoys being outdoors or doing things rather than being perched in front of the "box"- at least during daylight hours....
I really enjoy riding my mountain bike round the local fields and lanes and I spend quality time looking at nature's glories as looking at the little numbers on the so-called "cycle computer" telling me how far I have got and....crucially, how far I have to go!. Recently "converted" to a road bike and it has been a revelation... more miles and more smiles...
Other than that, on the fit-and-active front, I enjoy walking, not just from A to B but going for invigorating, stimulating rambles, especially in dramatic places like the Scottish Western Isles, the north Norfolk coast and Cornwall.
Currently I am coming to the end stages of restoring a tumble-down cottage in the countryside which has meant getting to grips with loads of skills like carpentry, brick laying and electrics - so putting a plug on something is not exactly alien....or putting a plaster on my thumb either!
When in town I like nothing better than seeing a good movie or going to a concert or performance - anything from Tosca to Bill Bailey in reality. ....and including "cultural immersion" at a gallery
I admit I love a good film from grainy old black and white Bogart / Bacall stuff to the crop of just-released films. I do also admit to having a huge admiration for Richard Curtis and cannot decide which of his films I like best...... right now it's Notting Hill, but I reserve the right to change my mind to Four Weddings or Love Actually at a moment's notice!
Ideal evening? A meal with close friends after a day's walk on the beach... good wine, good home-cooked food created as an "ensemble piece" and lively conversation.
I think that ultimately, having a good, positive time and not taking life too seriously is the best way to approach each day. Loads more to say of course, but that's the next stage I guess...
