About her
Hello there!
I count myself incredibly lucky to be surrounded by a loving circle of family and friends, including two active parents, my wonderful grown-up children and a granddaughter who’s as bright, funny and full of life as she is beautiful. I also have a job that keeps me on my toes and gives me plenty to reflect on… never a dull moment, which is just how I like it.
I’ve travelled a fair bit (there’s always another destination calling), and spent Easter exploring the East Coast of the US, where I was amused to find MAGA caps proudly proclaiming “Made in China”. Oh, the irony…
Closer to home, I’ve recently taken on an allotment, which means I’m on a steep learning curve with compost and courgettes. I’ve happily swapped skiing for walks safer for my limbs after an accident on the slopes and have enjoyed hiking in the Lake District and along the Dorset coast.
I’m very much a spring-summer-autumn kind of person, winter and I are not the best of friends, but the changing seasons always bring something new to look forward to.
A few favourites:
Family and friends (including our gorgeous cocker spaniel)
Theatre, live music, and great conversation
The Ryder Cup (especially when we win!) and the Six Nations (when we play well!)
Bob Dylan, Edith Piaf, Leonard Cohen, Abba, Elton John, Billy Joel, to name a few, and a good dose of jazz or classical when the mood strikes, and I always love an evening dancing.
The Rest is Politics, Sunday morning politics, a glass of wine with my book group friends, breakfast in bed, and those small everyday moments that make life lovely,! laughter, kindness, hugs, and good company.
What I’m not a fan of:
Unkindness, deceit, cruelty or sarcasm, life’s far too short for anything but warmth and decency.
