About her
Here's my recent tale which may provide a 'flavour' of who I am and where I am at:...."I am sitting in a café on a Sunday, dark and rainy. Scanning the room, it is busy: a guy with his laptop, another reading the FT, yet another sat at a cosy armchair engrossed in his novel. Two women babbling to my right. Everyone looking busy; myself included as out of the need for something to do I have turned to writing this. I suspect that many of us are in a similar boat: age- check, looking busy - check, single - check, wishing they had engaging company - check.
Supping coffee I mull over my status: 'single'- it's a phrase that particularly comes to mind in my personal time, when there aren't the work or routine distractions. A shared life I sincerely know, would be a lot more fulfilling than solo, so it's time for me to take stock...but do what? It's tricky, as where do people of a certain age meet other singles? I continue to drink my coffee and contemplate.....no light bulb moment but I do come up with two parallel trains of thought. To start to think of the rest of my life as a permanent singleton and enjoy it for what it is. The second: "get out of my comfort zone"...Immerse myself into new opportunities for meeting people.
