About him
If you're looking for a gentleman in the old fashioned sense of the word, you may find that I'm the man for you! I was 77 last June, and consider myself to be perfectly average for my age. Grey haired with the odd aches and pains, I try to keep fit and reasonably trim by walking and cycle riding. I have two granddaughters who live in South London with my son and his partner. I have been divorced for over forty years. I have two part-time jobs (jus a few hours per week - entirely negotiable) mainly to keep my brain from becoming atrophied, and am a third of the way through an OU English Literature Degree Course. Inevitably I am a member of the National Trust, and enjoy days out and good food. Although I have recently invested in a variety of cook books I shall never challenge Gary Rhodes, mainly, perhaps, because I don't seem to find sufficient time to experiment! I consider myself to be perfectly pleasant to look at (average I feel), but I like to dress smartly, and do not believe in slopping about in a track suit or old pair of jeans all day (in fact I've never yet found a pair of jeans which are comfortable to wear!) I'm respectable, very honest and feel I live my life by good standards. I try to be fair in my views but am occasionally rather right wing when it comes to behaviour and the problems currently besetting our Country. I have not travelled abroad very much in recent years, but prefer to learn about local culture, rather than lie on a beach. Anyway if you'd like to meet - initially somewhere on neutral ground - please get in touch. If we're not compatible when we meet at least it will prove a pleasant short term diversion! However, it would be nice to think that I could share what remains of my life with a really nice lady!

I'm looking for a slim, fragrant typical English rose. A capable woman, perhaps divorced or widowed, who has realistic ambitions, considering all the available criteria. Someone who is kind, thoughtful, considerate, loyal and affectionate. I'm not impressed by ladies who feel that they should take-up bungee jumping, or trekking in the Himalayas in their sixties - feeling that these more dangerous experiences should - if at all - be experienced when in one's youth. An added bonus would be someone with children and perhaps grandchildren - as this is the time of life when youngsters can be such good fun, with somewhat reduced responsibility, by the silver surfers!
