I am fairly gregarious and enjoy meeting people. I'm a happy listener - I take no pleasure in talking about myself.: other people are more interesting. Friends describe me as very thoughtful and very sensitive, both personally and to the needs of others - a strong social conscience.
Music is a passion - pretty well anything (except modern jazz) and from Bach to musicals. I read extensively and am a lover of poetry.
Away from the armchair, I am a keen cyclist - canal towpaths especially - but not of the Lycra and shaved legs variety. Rambling, too, is an inspiring way to exercise and engage with our beautiful countryside - Peak District and Yorkshire Dales and Moors draw me back time and again. Dangerously experimental in the kitchen, but no-one has died yet.
