About him
Contradictions, oh so many contradictions. I'm thoughtful, amusing, bright, loyal, considerate, liberal, reliable, occasionally forgetful, unconventional, irreverent, opinionated, urbane and urban with a somewhat sardonic wit and occasionally forgetful.
I have an enquiring mind and am intrigued by the way the universe works (or largely doesn't), both on a physical and metaphysical level. Does that make me sound freakishly earnest? Well, I hope not, I think that humour makes the world go around and that there's no more delightful sound than that of laughter. There are many attributes (both positive and negative) which I can't recall right now (feel free to ask). I'm also energetic and talkative, a trifle impatient on rare occasions and less good at tennis than I'd like to be, and did I mention that I'm honest too, sometimes to a fault...
I enjoy cinema, some live music, bars, galleries etc - you know, all the usual stuff that London offers. There would be little point in putting-up with its idiosyncrasies if one didn't benefit from its multiplicity of advantages.
[I realise I have uploaded rather a lot of snaps, but I would rather not come as a nasty shock should we ever meet, so in the spirit of full disclosure there they are!]
About his ideal match
I'm looking for someone who shares my liberal (please note the lower-case "l") values and sense of humour; someone who isn't scared of honest debate without being argumentative. A person who can be supportive but who isn't too proud to accept the same when necessary. A past career in academic science leads me to seek someone grounded in the real world, so please, no "new age", tree hugging, crystal-loving fanatics. Conspiracy theorists, X-Files fans and MMR-doubters are not really for me.
Someone with whom I can be entirely myself is my ultimate goal - a person in whose presence I could shed a tear when watching Casablanca or the latest heartbreaking news-story would be ideal.
Sometimes favourite TV programmes can be revealing; anyone who really enjoys Seinfeld, West Wing, This Week, anything by Chris Morris (appart from 'Four Lions'), Curb and Hill Street Blues, The Sopranos and Trumpton please go to the front of the queue (don't worry it's not long).
