About him
I like to think of myself as a kind, bright and positive man. I try to make the most of the opportunites that come along, or seek things out if they don't. Hopefully a good listener and firm believer that "good manners cost nothing". I take my proverbial hat off to parents and accept that in my case, children have probably passed me by. I am certainly not an elite sportsman but will have a go at most things, e.g. canyoning, jogging, tennis and paragliding have all been tried and enjoyed. Sure, I occasionally enjoy the finer things in life but many of the best things are free and I'm not motivated by money. I would go to see virtually anything across the arts spectrum.
I hate deceit and arrogance, and will challenge them if need be. I love.... fresh air; the stylishly fit-for-purpose, the compelling, the quirky, the understated and the modest. "Sometimes less is more" - how true. Translating those qualities into some examples: the views from Waterloo Bridge, especially at night; 'Una furtiva lagrima' from L'elisir d'amore; the perfect summer evening (even better with food and company); Turner's watercolours of Venice and other places; many things Italian; the films Brief Encounter, Tess, Orchestra Seats and more recently, Midnight in Paris. Songs: In My Life by The Beatles - melody yes, but the lyrics are spot on; and lots of other songs from Four Last by Strauss, to The Jam's Town Called Malice to Dido's White Flag and What's her name's Price Tag. I'll leave you to guess which categories all of these fall into!
Finally - thanks for bearing with me - I do not take myself too seriously (just look at those photographs, available to 'favourites') but I do value honesty and I haven't got anything to hide myself.
About his ideal match
A compassionate lady who is happy in herself and sensitive to other people. Not necessarily very outgoing but able to engage with others when she needs to. An interest in the arts would be ideal, maybe also participation in one or more sports but generally keeping fit and healthy above all. So an exact match of interests with mine is not vital - everyone needs their own time and space, even though sharing is great.
Looks/height as described elsewhere, long hair a bonus. An ability to smile and 'joie de vivre' ....
