About him
People say I'm easy to talk to, that I'm a good listener. I am genuinely interested in people and am curious rather than judgemental about others. My career was varied, starting out in engineering, and ending in linguistics research. In between I taught and worked a lot internationally. I find culture fascinating and enjoy the company of cosmopolitans. I'm left leaning and voted Remain. Since my retirement I've been busy dipping into many interests that I would not have had time for when working - photography, chess, languages, walking, climbing, film, travel, reading, music and more. I love mooching around interesting cities to find a gallery, a museum or a cool café. This year I've had one holiday spent in the French alps. Currently I'm interested in any technology that can keep my house cool in a heatwave!
Rather than thinking it was nicer to share my interests with a partner, being single and very independent meant I had complete freedom to focus on things. They say that being single is good for personal development and identity. I think I have had more than enough of that. In spite of my many interests, some days I am less busy and I remember what it's like to be in a close, loving relationship. And I miss it.
