I’m a bit daunted by this dating app process and never been great at selling myself at interviews but here goes …
I’ve recently retired from a long NHS career and the lovely things written in the cards included “kind, positive, inspiring, fun and caring and that I’ll be missed”. I like to think they were being honest. Retirement has enabled me to pursue those things I like to do, particularly catching up with friends; walking (though I’m not so good with hills these days) and travel - whether in the UK or abroad. City break or taking in beautiful countryside. I like to explore and absorb some of the local history and culture wherever I am. I am a National Trust member.
Family is important too. I have a son and his family living locally and see them when I can or when their busy lives allow. Seeing my granddaughter grow and being part of her development is a huge pleasure. I have another son in New Zealand so thank goodness for FaceTime!
I enjoy the usual things (eating out or eating in accompanied with a glass of wine, the theatre, country pubs, museums etc) as well as being more adventurous.
Although I like to get out and about, I am comfortable with my own company and like to have time at home whether to catch up on chores, keep on top of the gardening and have evenings in. My TV choices include a crime or costume drama or perhaps a quiz. I like to keep abreast of current affairs at home and abroad and will watch some documentaries especially if they are about other countries or nature.

This is hard; it’s a bit like going to a restaurant and not knowing what you’d like to eat but you’ll know what you fancy when you see it!
I would like you to have a range of interests and some that coincide with mine. Someone who likes to visit different places both in the UK or abroad and absorb some of the culture whilst there. Someone who is not afraid of trying something new or different.
Other things that are important to me is an interest in current affairs and what’s happening in the world around us without being too political. Conversation is a must peppered with companionable silence.
Overtime, I would like to develop a relationship that is caring, compassionate, spiked with a bit of fun and courage that both of us want to be part of. It’s helpful to have some common interests but I wouldn’t want to live in your pocket or you in mine; we’ve developed likes, dislikes and routines over the years so respect for each other is important but generally, life is much better when shared with someone else.
