About him
I am widowed. My wife of 52 years died after a long illness 15 months ago.
I like travelling to unusual places, theatre, opera, walking, gardening, parties, cooking from scratch, art galleries, museums and socialising.
I am always optimistic and outgoing. My mantra is that "it is later than you think" and " live for today".
I am a member of various clubs and societies.
Smoking and tattoos are things I dislike and I can get worked up by people who drop cigarette ends and do not clean up after their pets. I get impatient in queues
I live in the Tunbridge Wells town centre and have many acquaintances and friends. I have dated since my wife died women who I have met at social events but never tried dating sites. Travel is important to me. I am going to Colombia in October, Australia and Indonesia in January. This year I have so far been to Mallorca, Glasgow, Belfast, Indonesia, Malaysia, sailing in Croatia, Malaysia, Thailand, Istanbul and many times to London. Travelling by local busses, staying in modest hotels and meeting local people turns me on. All my travels have so far been on my own but I have never felt lonely.
I do voluntary reading in a local primary school every Monday. I am well organised with an efficient diary. Every morning I read the Times on line in bed and often go for a swim at the local pool before breakfast.
My grandchildren - I have four - and my children are very important to me and we are a very close family. We speak most days.
I do miss my wife but life is for living and I do not want to spend December watching Netflix videos by myself with a bottle of wine
About his ideal match
I would like to meet an independent woman younger than me who is attractive, fit, confident has strong views and can hold her own in a discussion. Hopefully the person would be independent financially and have had a generally happy life so far. I am not really interested in people whose conversation is dominated by medical matters and what their cat has got up to.
A deal breaker for me me would be someone who smokes, had tattoos, was overweight or was a supporter of Nigel Farage.
I would hope that the person had a successful business, cultural or educational life and have a good relationship with her family and any previous partners.
Sex is important in relationships. I have always enjoyed it and always tried to be honest
I hope the match would enjoy going out with me initially for just a coffee and perhaps if it works going with me for a long walk, the theatre, opera, to an art gallery, cooking together and perhaps in due course on a trip abroad. Hopefully the date could help me with my today problem which involves gazpacho which I am preparing for a lunch party I am hosting and whether it should be diluted and strained or not.
