Its overdue, and time I put finger to keyboard, and updated my rant!
It was beginning to look as up to date as the Aeneid, which I studied for Latin "O" level and masterly strode proudly home with an "Unclassified" grade, which apparently puts me on the intellectual equivalent of a dead slug or Cheryl Cole (or whatever her name is now!). There are mentally retarded newts in the Upper Amazon with better O levels than yours truly! Very unlucky! I learnt 50% of the Latin version parrot fashion and the bast***s chose the other 50%. How was I meant to know what "Sic cum liberos (few other words) saxa iacta runt" meant. I had a good stab at "Children who couldn't read were stoned to death" whereas the technicalities threw a slightly different light on matters, and I was told that "disobedient slaves were thrown off the rocks" was a more standard answer.
I sympathise with kids having to read Shakespeare, learn the Periodic Table, and go on cross-country runs! I fancy a spell as Minister for Education, methinks !
Politics - the Americans put the bomb on the Ruskies plane! - to get them on-side with us-boys(and girls!). Furthermore, ISIS have tried to trick us by being renamed ISIL, (damn clever stuff! I'm not fooled though!). All hell let loose in the Post Office the other day, when I tried to put some shares into my "current ISIS".
Back to the Aeneid (Part Two-to be accurate) - the Greeks invented terrorism! yes - with the Trojan Horse stint, but look where thats got them - not a stuffed vine-leaf between them now. At least the Romans can boast the Ferrari and Spag Bolognaise!
Sex- man goes to Boots for Viagra, and duly asks if he can get it "over the counter?"
